Section 4: Keep Your Plan Up-to-Date
Review your plan regularly – things change, and your estate plan should too.
What made sense a few years ago might not anymore, and keeping it up to date helps avoid surprises, confusion, or unintended outcomes down the line.
Plan to review your estate plan every 5 years, when laws change, or after any significant change with your family or your finances.
Review your plan after:
Marriage, divorce, or new relationship
Birth or adoption of children or grandchildren
Death of a beneficiary or executor
Significant changes in assets or financial situation
Moving to a different province or country
Changes in tax laws
